Grindcore is a genre of music that I have always loved. The music's raw power, high speed, and aggressive delivery always get my blood pumping. This subgenre of extreme music, from bands like Napalm Death and Pig Destroyer to bands such as Black Sabbath, has always had a special place in me. Grindcore appeals to me for its fast tempos, guttural singing, and short songs. It's a genre which doesn't hold back, and isn't scared to push the boundaries in conventional music. Grindcore's chaotic, relentless nature is not for those with weak hearts, but for those who enjoy the intensity and raw power, it is a musical experience unlike any other. Gritcore's unapologetic approach is what I love the most. It's abrasive and confrontational music that is in your face. That's why I love it. It's a musical middle fingers to the status-quo, and that is incredibly liberating. I am also a fan of the DIY ethos often associated with grindcore. I am a huge fan of the punk rock, grassroots approach to music making and distribution. The music isn't the only thing that makes me love grindcore. I also enjoy the community it fosters. Grindcore concerts are known for their high energy and camaraderie. These shows create a unique bond between fans, united by their appreciation of this uncompromising form of music. The uncompromising nature of grindcore is what I love most. It's a genre which refuses to be tamed and watered down. I find this incredibly inspiring. In a time when so much of the media and entertainment we consume feels sanitized, grindcore is a raw, unapologetic expression. To all my fellow fans of grindcore music, I encourage you to keep headbanging, and to support this uncompromising, incredible style of music. Grind it on!
